A Journey Through Chaos to Calm
First off, can you believe weâre already at episode 68? đ
With May being Mental Health Month, I thought it was the perfect opportunity to rewind back to episode 13, where I served up six golden self-care tips for us busy mamas. Spoiler alertâthese tips have been game-changing for me!
Before we dive in, I gotta come clean about something. Over the last couple of years, Iâve tangoed with stress, anxiety, and even vertigo amidst juggling parenting, a demanding job in the music industry, and a rollercoaster of life eventsâincluding a divorce, dating as a single mom, finding love again, and marriage. Yikes, right?
My Aha Moment
Picture this: Iâm driving to work one morning when, out of nowhere, my vision goes topsy-turvy. Vertigo hit me like a ton of bricks, and it kept coming back, accompanied by worrisome headaches. Long story short, after several months of doctor visits, I was diagnosed with both generalized anxiety disorder and vestibular migraines. But here's the kickerâI got things under control thanks to finally making self-care a priority. đ¸
And mamas, if I can do it, so can you! So let's rewind to those timeless tips from episode 13.

Tip #1: Make Time for Yourself
Easier said than done, right? Wrong! This is non-negotiable. Find your sanctuaryâa hot bath, a favorite Netflix show, or a walk in nature. Schedule it in like you would a doctor's appointment, because, girl, your sanity depends on it. Pro tip: Set the scene with a bath bomb and your favorite beverage. đ
Tip #2: Stay Connected
Feeling like youâre on "Mom Island"? Been there! Reach out to other momsâwhether itâs a local church group, a community Facebook group, or simply connecting with moms from your kid's daycare. Stay connected to remind each other that youâre not in this alone.
Tip #3: Practice Mindfulness
Put down the phone, take a deep breath, and be in the moment. Itâs so easy to get caught up in multitasking that we forget to enjoy the here and now. Doing a quick body scan or just focusing on your breathing can make all the difference.

Tip #4: Get Enough Sleep
I know, I knowâwhat even is sleep, right? đ´ But itâs crucial. Aim for 7-8 hours and talk to a specialist if youâre struggling. Trust me, a well-rested mama is a happy mama.
Tip #5: Ask for Help
We canât do it all, and thatâs okay. Whether itâs delegating tasks to your partner or benefiting from a meal train after babyâs arrival, accepting help is a sign of strength, not weakness.
Tip #6: Practice Self-Compassion
Be kind to yourself. Negative self-talk? Ainât nobody got time for that! Treat yourself like you would your best friendâcompliment yourself, acknowledge your strengths, and practice positive affirmations.
The Takeaway
At the end of the day, taking care of yourself isnât just about making you feel good. Itâs about ensuring you can be the best version of yourself for you and your loved ones. As I often say on my podcast, you canât pour from an empty cup. So take these tips to heart and start filling up that cup, mamas! [Tune-in to this episode HERE!]
