Reflecting on My 24 and 24 Journey

Let's rewind a bit. Last year, I shared my 24 in 24 goals... Spoiler alert, I didn't check ’em all off, but guess what? That's OK! Life happens. Between work, family projects, and running around Middle Tennessee, making time for these reflections can be tough.

But guess what I did find time for? Some affirmations to keep me centered and, of course, sharing them with you here.

During my search for some New Year positivity, I stumbled upon a gem by Hazel M. Cherry on the DC Area Moms website. She compiled a list of 11 affirmations perfect for moms like us. Here’s a quick rundown of these feel-good nuggets—because we all need a positive boost sometimes:

  1. I prioritize taking time to nourish and replenish myself. Yesss! Whether it’s a walk (even in single digits weather ❄️), hitting the gym, binge-watching TV, or simply hydrating—take that self-care seriously.
  2. I choose progress over perfection in my home and life. Repeat after me: Done is better than perfect. Seriously, let’s embrace our beautifully imperfect lives.
  3. I celebrate small wins, knowing they lead to significant victories. Celebrate every tiny triumph because little by little, a little becomes a lot!
  4. I trust my instincts and wisdom as a mother. From unsolicited advice to societal expectations—trust your instincts. You know your child best.
  5. I can ask for help and it does not diminish my strength. It takes a village to raise a child and support a mom. Let’s normalize asking for help.
  6. I make time for my passions and dreams without guilt. Pursue your passions - guilt-free. Remember who you were before becoming a mom—she’s still in there, rocking it!
  7. I embrace the beauty of motherhood, even in its messiness. From snotty noses to endless giggles—this journey is messy and beautiful.
  8. I release comparison and trust my unique journey as a mother. Embrace your path, mama. Social media can wait.
  9. I embrace each day as a fresh start. Bad day? Bedtime meltdowns? Tomorrow's a new day—fresh start, fresh mindset.
  10. I am growing alongside my children, learning every day. We're evolving just like our little ones. Commend yourself for showing up every day.
